Hyundai Auto Canada is proud to announce that the all-new Tucson was crowned overall winner for “Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year” by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) for 2022. The Hyundai Tucson rose above its numerous competitors in the most popular vehicle segment in Canada to earn this accolade from AJAC.
Already named AJAC’s “Best Mid-Size Utility Vehicle in Canada for 2022,” the fully-redesigned Tucson was selected by AJAC for its quiet and well-styled interior, safety features, and overall value.
“It was a fierce competition, and we are thrilled that one of our best-selling SUVs earned this recognition by the esteemed judges of AJAC,” says Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada. “This award is exceptionally meaningful for us, because the new Tucson represents Hyundai’s full-spectrum eco-powertrain approach - offering internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in a high-volume compact SUV. With all-wheel-drive capability; hybrid and plug-in hybrid options; customers no longer need to choose between all-road, all-weather capability and outstanding efficiency.”
Results from AJAC journalist member ballots were audited by international accounting firm KPMG and the winners were broadcasted live on REV TV Canada on February 28, 2022 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
AJAC’s judges comprise of professional journalists and writers who strive to report factual and ethical information about the automobile and automotive issues to Canadian consumers. This is achieved through vehicle testing and in-depth evaluations conducted under various road and weather conditions across Canada. The vehicles are evaluated according to the 20 voting parameters, some of which include: exterior styling; cargo versatility; convenience and entertainment features; noise vibration and harshness; engine; transmission; overall consumer appeal, and market significance.
