On March 8, we celebrated International Women's Day. To follow up on this important day and continue to celebrate women, we're shining the spotlight on one of our employees who makes a positive difference at the dealership every day. It's an opportunity to celebrate her achievements, resilience and impact, while continuing to promote gender equality in the automotive industry and beyond. In that spirit, we're honored to introduce Julia Donia, Finance Director at Hyundai Île-Perrot, who, through a short questionnaire, sheds light on her inspiring journey and unique perspectives.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in the automotive industry?
In life, I greatly admire my two older brothers. So, with both of them being dealership directors, my goal has always been to follow in their footsteps and carve out my own place in the business.
2. How could the representation of women in management and leadership positions benefit the automotive industry as a whole?
As a woman, buying a car can be scary and intimidating. It's a world that can seem complex! So when another woman is there to advise us, it can be reassuring. That's why I do what I do!
3. Can you share a memorable success or achievement you've achieved in your career in the automotive industry?
Before I came to Hyundai and Groupe AutoForce, I had a more difficult time in the industry. Because I'm a woman, some people tried to make me feel like I didn't belong. However, I decided not to listen to them and, after 3 years' experience as a sales representative in my previous job, I finally became Financial Director at just 24 years of age at Hyundai Île-Perrot. I love my new team, I feel good and, above all, I'm glad I believed in myself and didn't give up!
4. What advice would you give to young women aspiring to enter the automotive industry?
Because we think differently, we bring a fresh approach that is appreciated by our teammates. People want to hear your opinion, so don't be afraid to take your place!
5. What changes or advances do you foresee in the future of the automotive industry, particularly as regards the role of women?
Since I've been at Hyundai Île-Perrot, I really feel that my expertise is appreciated and respected. My opinion wants to be heard, and I feel it counts! I think it's going to be more and more like that everywhere, at least I hope so!
